We would like to welcome you to our cottage and we sincerely hope you enjoy your stay at Miskwabi Lake, a jewel of the Haliburton Highlands.  We hope that during your stay at Westie Way you make memories special enough to last a lifetime.

The Haliburton Highlands have been called “a natural work of art” – fortunately, for all of us, many dedicated enthusiasts are working to ensure it stays this way -- and we think you’ll agree with this description once you’ve explored the area.

Where are we?

Westie Way is situated approximately half way along the northern shore of Miskwabi Lake.  You are 15 miles northeast of the village of Haliburton.

Miskwabi Lake forms part of a two-lake chain that includes Long Lake. Together, Miskwabi and Long Lakes total about five miles in length and up to two miles at their widest.  Miskwabi is a deep, clear lake, which boasts excellent small mouth bass and lake trout fishing.  In fact, the lake is stocked by the Ministry of Natural Resources as part of a program of environmental initiatives launched in 2000. 

The property has 200 feet of shoreline with both a deep section for dock and boating as well as a shallow sandy beach area with gradual entry suitable for small children and wading. Exposure is to the south, keeping the property and the home sunny and bright all day.

Rigorous regulations related to setbacks from the shoreline and minimum frontages have kept Miskwabi Lake pristine with very little development visible from the lake.  There is no marina on the lake which further contributes to a surprisingly light frequency of power boat traffic, even on holiday weekends.

The Cottage

There are beds to accommodate 12 people in four large bedrooms, one upstairs and three downstairs, along with a sofa bed.  A full washroom facility is provided on the lower level, while the upper level has a shower and a deep tub.

If you’re in the mood for tube. two flat screen TV’s await, up and down. Upstairs we have Starchoice Satellite TV, downstairs there’s a DVD/VHS player. That means the kids can watch their shows on the lower level while the adults can watch separate programs upstairs. Also, you can choose from a well-stocked film library in both DVD and VHS formats. And there are several fun board games in the “pink” bedroom closet to help pass the time in the event of inclement weather (which of course we hope you will not experience).  Of course curling up with a novel in front of the cozy fireplaces is another heavenly option.
